Statistical and Measurement Methods in psychological research are vital tools for transforming raw data into scientific, understandable findings, categorized into two general levels. In the first part, descriptive statistics provides a concise and clear picture of the studied group's characteristics by using measures of central tendency—such as the mean and median—and measures of dispersion, such as standard deviation. In the second part, inferential statistics helps scientists draw connections between results from a small sample and the broader population, utilizing normal distributions and significance testing to distinguish true differences from random chance. Furthermore, analyzing correlations between phenomena enables the prediction of behaviors, though it must be kept in mind that a relationship between two variables does not imply that one causes the other. Ultimately, all of these tools are employed to minimize error and enhance precision when interpreting findings from the study of human behavior.
